I decided to descend the SE face after meeting another climber who came up that way. I found a place to drop onto the face and it was just a loose stretch (typical) straight shot back to the sandy plateau by the tarn. Much shorter and more direct than going back over the col.
It's a bit slow going near the top where it is steeper, but as it runs out to the flat plateau it becomes sandy and fast.
Looking down on the col and the tarn and the dirty snow field.
Looking back over to the col. I climbed the boulders to the left of the snow.
Non-snow route up the col. It's usually not this easy - steep enough that when there is snow people usually carry crampons and an ice axe. I've only gone over it in dry years so I haven't had that issue.
