Pups snoozing in the car on the drive to Hart Mountain Antelope Refuge.
Hiking from the gate just beyond the hot springs. We'll follow the road towards Warner Peak for a short while before cutting cross-country.
Warner Peak is the far bump
At this cabin, we turned off of the road and started up the mountainside. Oh my god the mosquitoes.
Climbing up the hillside, barely stopping at all in a feeble attempt to outrun the mosquitoes.
Up on the plateau. Mosquitoes still everywhere.
The summit is in sight!
Barley on the summit
Summit view to the south
Thor on the summit
We took a steep chute down, no pics on the way. Still outrunning misquitoes
Looking back a the chute we descended (the dirt chute)
Looking back at the peak. Notice all the wildflowers, too! They were gorgeous but I didn't have the patience to sit and photograph them with all the mosquitoes.
We can see the truck and the hot springs area
Back on the road in the antelope refuge, waiting for a herd of antelope to cross the road.
More antelope! (it is an antelope refuge, after all).
Hart Mountain is in the middle of nowhere, and we enjoyed driving this road to find antelope with no one else in sight.
We headed over to Malheur Wildlife refuge to camp and found EVEN MORE MOSQUITOES
This... did not help a lot
The next morning we explored some of Malheur
Stopped by a weathered petroglyph rock in Malheur

A deer and a fawn in Malheur Wildlife Refuge
Happy pup on the drive home!
