Today I drove from south to north along the Crooked River "Highway" - highway 27 off of 20. It's dirt part way, so much for highway.
A view across the high desert from the Crooked River Highway to Pine Mountain.
Dropping into Crooked River canyon.
I pulled off on an access road below Taylor Butte. I could have driven closer to the summit, but thor and I wanted to walk!
Unfortunately the cascades were socked in - I bet the view is fantastic on a clear day!
Are you coming? Asks Thor.
Nothing better than a hike with my boy on Mother's Day!
Come ON says Thor. He had to be patient while I photographed wildflowers.
We watched deer bound across the landscape.
Black Butte in the distance. I was originally going to hike it today, but figured the clouds wouldn't help the view.
Mt Bachelor and the Three Sisters are still hiding behind the clouds.
View towards the Maury Mountains from the summit of taylor Butte.
Prineville Reservoir from Taylor Butte
After Taylor Butte I drove along the Crooked River below Prineville Reservoir
The basalt rock formations in this canyon are amazing.
The north end of the scenic drive - I turned around here and took photos on my way back.
