Trail starts up through the forest on a gentle grade.
Older wilderness sign.
I'm just on a dayhike, but thought this info was useful if I come back for a backpack.
We found snow as we approached Lake Ann.
Come on, mom! Stop taking pictures and lets hike!
Lake Ann
Thor in his happy place - oh yeah snow.
Approaching the Marion Lake Outlet
Lots of hard crusty snow covering the trail now. I put on my microspikes and kept going.
I wanted to climb high enough for a view of Mt Jefferson.
I reached a burned area so I could see the lake again.
Patchy crusty snow was starting to get soft in the sun.
Mt Jefferson still hiding behind some trees.
That's better. I ended up turning around just a bit beyond where I took this photo because I was starting to post hole.
Heading back down to Marion Lake
Thor and I followed the trail along the shore and stopped for a snack on a little peninsula.
It had a nice view of Three Fingered Jack
I did the side trip to Marion Falls. It is an easy use trail to this overlook, but I didn't take the steep trail down to the base since it was a bit muddy and slick.
Back at Lake Ann, we saw an otter swimming across the lake. Thor really wanted to jump in and go play.
He was too far out for my phone to get a good pic, but he swam across the lake into these grasses.
