Starting up from the trailhead across from the Crooked River
Heading up the side canyon
It was slightly above freezing so the trail was a combination of ice and mud
At the end of the canyon is a boundary and the trail switchbacks up to the plateau
As we climb we get better views
Looking down on the Crooked River
We're now up on the plateau and contouring above the rock walls w e saw from the beginning of the hike.
After ~1.4 miles you reach Chimney Rock
There's a small bench if you need a rest.
View of the Crooked River from Chimney rock
Windblown juniper on a rocky outcropping near Chimney Rock
A couple of junipers were dense with berries.
Iced waterfalls, fascinating geology.
Lichen and juniper.
Back in the canyon, just in time for the sun to come out.
