Geobrowns, Motorobug, and I in Oakdale on our drive to the East Sierra
From Eastern Sierra GBA 4x4 Trip #1 (07.31-08.03.2008)
Geobrowns pass 100k miles in their Jeep!
Died the year I was born
This is the cemetery just outside of Jamestown
Many old and interesting graves here
Planning to find a cache at an old trestle, our first route deadends.
A giant new rockfall blocks the road
Jim, Brad, and Tom do their best to clear the way, but no luck.
We ended up looking for another route around
We reach this fallen trestle.
Another dead end!
We never reached the cache, but this spot is its own reward.
I walked down below to get perspective.
It's an old narrow-guage railroad trestle.
Water tank and pipe along one of the roads.

Logging the cache at Copper Mountain
Ironically, this is the one spot I had a mobile signal.
The next cache takes us to the victims of a 1911 avalanche.
The victims were staffing a power station for Bodie
We stopped at a nearby mine as well.
The first 4x4 challenge - the mogul hill on Black Crater
Up the hill, it's sunscreen time!
We hike over to the secret crack
It's a pretty deep little canyon!
Say no to crack
