Map of day 2 - finishing Taboose Pass and camping at Bench Lake.
A view of the terrain ahead from our campsite in the morning
Packing up camp - a nice spot to spend a few hours.
Starting out for the day. Woo hoo! Backpacking!
The trail switchbacks up to the left of the green and snow.
Where's the marmot (nose)? The furball was too shy to come out for a photo op.
It's so pretty up here! And I'm so happy the fire haze seems to be gone.
Looking back on our campsite (on the right side of the small lake)
David coming up the trail
Snow (didn't have to cross this field, the trail doesn't cross it)
Narrow Leaf Stonecrop
Getting closer to the pass, there is more snow up here.
Just below the pass I see the top of Arrow Peak poking out. We'll stand on that tomorrow.
Some pretty tarns up here along Taboose Pass
Striped Mtn and a taboose pass lake.
That snow bank was about 10 feet tall
The water is so clear and clean up here!
A large snowfield before taboose pass
At Taboose Pass
The new(ish) sign
The old sign
Me wielding dangerous weapons. "weapons prohibited" according to the sign
Looking back down the way we came
What a view! We head west towards Bench Lake, visible near the center of the photo (literally sitting on a bench). Tomorrow we'll climb Arrow Peak, the peak that dominates our view from the Pass.
Looking back on the Pass and Cardinal Peak
Meadows below Taboose Pass - and this is where we found the mosquitoes. It had been breezy the previous night and we hadn't had to deal with those %$^%$ing things.
But the view sure is nice.
