We stayed at Junction Campground on Friday night and weren't meeting up with everyone until Saturday morning at 10. I took the quiet morning as an opportunity to hike over to the ruins of Bennetville from our camp.
Walking up Mine Creek. The trail goes straight from our campsite about 3/4 mile to the old town site.
In the distance, a waterfall coming down near an adit by the old townsite of Bennetville.
Arriving at the ruins of Bennetville.
Story of Bennetville.
Bennetville barn, mt Dana in the background.
We met up at the trailhead for Ragged Peak at 10am. By 10:30 we were on the trail. It starts off through the trees for a few miles but eventually a nice view is found at Delaney Creek.
Delaney Creek. So many fishies!
Heading across Delaney Meadow towards a nice looking dome. We'll end up climbing it later...
Looking southwest towards Tuolumne and Hoffmann.
Zoomer on the peaks
At this point we leave the trail. Ahead is Ragged Peak - the rock outcropping just to the left of the low point.
Deer across the meadow.
The view behind us was one of the best I've seen in the sierra. Amazing view of the Cathedral Range!
Heading up towards the low point next to Ragged Peak.
Ragged Peak rised above the middle of the ridge.
Banner and Ritter in the distance.
Sandy approach but easy so far.
There is a steep and sandy use trail that heads up to the summit rock pile.
Looking down on our approach.
Almost to the saddle just below the summit. Easy hiking until here.
Awesome rock piles up on the saddle.
Mt Conness from the saddle. Slope of the ragged peak summit block right in front.
Whorl and Matterhorn - next on the list!
Tower Peak in the distance.
Beautiful domes of northern yosemite.
Sub-summit pile of Ragged.
Summit piles. I left my camera and pack at the saddle and scrambled up. Awesome rock scramble and I wish I brought my camera along!
At the saddle
sandy downhill bomb on the descent!
As we descend we decided to cut over to the perfect dome on the other side of the meadow - in this photo it's the nice smooth dome just left of the center of the picture.
Look at that VIEW!

Easy cross-country around here.
