The John Muir Trail Trailhead sign and me, clean and happy and excited for the coming two weeks.
Okay, so I'm not starting at the JMT proper in Happy Isles, but this was a pretty good sign for the standard photo op.
One of my favorite spots along the Lyell Fork of the Tuolumne River
The water is lower than usual this year, but it still looks as refreshing as always!
The bridge over the Lyell Fork
Beautifully clear water
I've photographed this so many times!
The straight and flat stretch through Lyell Canyon
We were all reassuring each other that the next several weeks would all be this easy - ha!
Mary is happy to be on the trail!
Lunch spot - another one of my favorite stops on the trail.
A perfect spot to take a break and soak the not-yet-weary feet.
Mary and Andrea enjoy the sunny break.
My pack's the smallest! :)
The Lyell Fork
The Cathedral Range comes into view.
Guess we'll be done with that easy flat trail soon...
Yep - here comes the climb.
Starting on the 2100 ft climb to Donohue Pass
Beautiful views back into Lyell Canyon
But today we're keeping it simple - stopping after 700 ft of climbing to the pass.
This is the first night's campsite with my home for the next two weeks - my beloved Tarptent Rainbow
