When we got to the bottom of the switchbacks we saw a hiker who was standing and looking rather bewilderedly in the direction of Glen Pass. The switchbacks are mostly invisible from below and it looks too steep to climb. He looked a bit confused, and maybe a little bit terrified. We confirmed that yes, that was indeed the pass and yes, there were switchbacks and it wasn't that difficult.
