We start today climbing out of the Kern Canyon along Rattlesnake Creek
Falls along Rattlesnake Creek
This was a long climb of almost 4000 ft but really beautiful.
Looking back down the Kern River from above.
High enough to see wildflowers again!
Hiking up rattlesnake creek
No rattlesnake sightings along here, luckily.
Beautiful cascades kept me company on the climb.
Water refill and foot soak stop.
Getting back into the high country.
Yep. more clouds building today.
Looking back down rattlesnake creek towards the Kern.
Some of this stretch reminded me of the climb to Muir Pass from the northbound JMT.
Making coffee in camp just below Franklin Pass
We setup camp just in time for the afternoon rain and hail storm.
View from my Tarptent
It rained/hailed from 3 to 6:30 pm.
I curled up in my sleeping bag and napped, read, and drank warm tea to pass the time.
Track for today's hike
9.6 miles, 3679' gain, 147' loss
