Today's track and profile
At the North Lake trailhead we start to see some signs of fall - little patches of yellow in the aspens.
We'll be on both trails by week's end.
Aren't all campgrounds overnight?
Pavla and David heading towards the trail
We're heading towards upper Lamarck Lake tonight.
As we climb through the aspens we get views across towards Piute Crags
Looking down towards Bishop - lots of smoke in the air blowing in from fires in Yosemite and LA
There are also storm clouds forming. I'm hoping we avoid it today.
Looking towards the Lake Sabrina basin.
Looking back on North Lake and the parking lot.
Sunlight breaking through the clouds
This is a great trail to get into the high country fast - lots of great views after the first mile.
At the Lower Larmarck Lake outlet.
On our way to Upper Lamarck Lake
David on the trail.
Looking down on Lower Lamarck Lake
And Upper Lamarck Lake
Looking for a campsite at Upper Lamarck Lake
Found a nice one near the outlet.
Clouds are still forming but light peeks through occasionally.
Sunlight and storm clouds
It's storming in the distance - we ended up getting hit with the rain after dark.
I caught this beautiful brookie on my first cast on the creek near camp.
The last patch of blue sky above Upper Lamarck Lake
The creek near camp (where I caught the pretty brook trout)
The only sunset light we got - then it started raining. :(
