We rolled into Fossil Falls campground just after dark on Friday. Thor very much enjoyed his new Ruffwear Bed
But his favorite spot is the back of the truck - he hopped up there all ready for bed long before David and I were ready to go to sleep!
Dis is my bed. Thor waits for us to pack up so we can go on today's adventures.
Our first stop was exploring the north Lake area.
Fall colors at North Lake
Not much around the lake
There seems to be a big spread this year - some trees still healthy and green, others completely bare, and a few small patches in between where we caught color.
Walking around North Lake - one of my favorite aspen groves was half green, half bare already.
The best color was back near where we parked at the first lot before reaching the lake.
This spot is usually a rainbow, but it hasn't turned yet.
Thor poses in front of a turning aspen.
Next we moved up towards Lake Sabrina.
We found similar conditions.
Bishop Creek, just below lake sabrina
Lake Sabrina Fall Colors
Since the fall colors weren't blowing us away we decided to try another Eastern Sierra Tour - the brewery trifecta. First stop, Mountain Rambler in Bishop to fill up a growler.
Thor likes to drape himself over the center console of the truck when he's tired. It's adorable.
Then, Mammoth Brewing. This is a fresh 395 IPA, my favorite!
Our campsite was within walking distance of June Lake brewing so we finished off the trifecta there!
The next morning we drove the June Lake loop and found no color at all. David tried fishing for a bit.
But no luck with the fish either.
It was a nice cold morning along the creek - fall is in the air despite it being almost 100 degrees in San Jose this day.
After we struck out fishing we decided to check out the view into Lundy Canyon from Copper Mountain
Copper Mtn is a 4x4 drive out of Virginia Lakes road
No color was seen up Lundy Canyon, but we did spy a few nice groves on the slopes of Copper Mountain
Driving through one of the groves
We did a loop and followed the power line road along some aspen groves. Saw a bunch of hunters back here.
Our final stop of the day was Dynamo Pond where David fished some more and Thor had fun being a dog.
He is one happy pup.
