The first of many creek crossings along Hunting Hollow Road. Happy to be in waterproof Peakfreak shoes.
A big trail work event was going on when I arrived. About 40 or so people were heading up to work on the new Jim Donnelly Trail route. Switchbacks, hurray! Someone asked if I wanted to join them but I was too intent on a training hike today. Thanks for all the hard work! It's nice to see these trail improvements, my knees very much appreciate it!
Starting the day off easy with a nice 2 mile stretch down hunting hollow road.

Phegley Ridge trail. Time to start climbing. Steeply.
Phegley Ridge trail. Steep and overgrown. Happy to be climbing this first thing when it's still cool out and the rattlesnakes are still snoozing.
Looking down on Hunting Hollow Road from Phegley Ridge trail.
Across at Bill's Hill. Still need to get up there but tales of Poison Oak have kept me away.
Blue Eyed Grass
Almost done with the climbing to Phegley Ridge. Great views all around now.
First peek across at my next ridge.
