The trail starts off as a rutted single track that switchbacks up through the trees
Then the trail meets an access road and the view open up - neat rock formations on the mountain come into view.
Side trip off the trail - old mine tunnels
Rock formation - some climbers were here on the hike down.
Napa Valley from above
Approaching the summit
Last short steep stretch to the summit
200 feet from the summit I walked into a cloud and the views kind of disappeared. Oh well.
summit rock (and stubborn cloud that won't clear away)
Views of wine country far below
View to the north
View to the west (?) I think
Heading back down - you can see the road winding down the mountain below me.
Rock formation along the trail
Not a trail I'd want to be on on a hot sunny day - it was plenty exposed enough today!
Napa valley - mmmm wine.
Robert Louis Stevenson plaque (Mt St Helena is in RLS State Park)
Bench along the trail
Stopped by St Clement to pick up a few bottles on my way back through the valley. I love the view from their front porch - one of my favorite picnic spots in the valley.
St Clement and vines
Awww, baby grapes.
