We drove out to the coast this morning for the annual Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival, and also to pick up some carving pumpkins for Halloween. This is where we like to go - Bob's, just south of HMB on HWY 1.
It is a huge pumpkin field just across from the ocean.
They even have a petting zoo - this wooly creature was very friendly. Or he wanted to eat my camera, I'm not sure which.
Pick 'em where they grow! This is much more fun than digging through a bin at Safeway. Plus it means Dave gets to use his knives.
They also have lots of ripened and pre-picked pumpkins for the taking
Dave carefully inspects the pumpkins
These warty guys look cool, but they are hard to carve and turn yellow really fast.
Can't wait to get home and gut these guys. Mmmm....toasted pumpkin seeds.
Next stop: Pumpkin festival
Watching the pumpkin carver at work.
Our mission was to find some food. I had some pumpkin bread and a chicken pumpkin sausage, Dave had a turkey drumstick. We shared pumpkin ice cream for dessert.
Oh, and we washed it all down with some Half Moon Bay Brewing Company Pumpkin Harvest Ale. Pretty darn tasty.
