After a day in vegas we headed out to Death Valley, with a quick swing through Red Rock Canyon. It was raining so we didn't really hike, just took in the views.
Thanksgiving
Socked in.
Calico Hills
Red Rock Canyon
The rain made the desert smell so good.
Between Pahrump and Shoshone
Beautiful colors and patterns in the mountainsides
We stopped at 'Dublin Gulch' in Shoshone where cabins are built into the rock.
A fancy two-seater.
The 'cabins'
Some of the doors were brightly colored, standing out against the dull grey rock.
The sun is coming out - yaaay!
Dublin Gulch. I would have liked to learn more about this site, but since it was Thanksgiving the little museum was closed.
Saw a lot of dirt road this week!
Salsberry Pass
Sheephead peak from Salsberry Pass
We arrive at our cozy home for the next few days to quite the welcome!
An upside down Hudson behind the cabin
Dave and Chip investigate the alien spacecraft that crashed near the cabin.
Chip, Joe, David, and Robin explore.
View back to the alien spacecraft at the hot tub.
The recent rain has made the landscape extra colorful.
View from the ridge near 'camp'.

Home sweet home
Happy Thanksgiving!
The old cabin.
How many backpackers does it take to set up a tent?
Inside the cozy cabin - it's a four room cabin: Dining room, mainroom/bedroom, kitchen, and the Danger Room (where all the old junk was put away).
Thanksgiving cooks over the outside firepit.
The Danger Room.
The Thanksgiving Buffet - turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, bean glop, sweet potatoes, and gravy. Wow!
The dining table is set and ready!
Dinner is served!
After dinner we plan tomorrow's route up Ibex Peak.
David keeps an eye on the fire from an interesting perspective.
