We awoke this day to temperatures in the mid 20s and clear skies. I was really looking forward to a peak since I knew a nice uphill hike would keep me warm. This is the route we took, the one that is described in both On Foot in Joshua Tree and Zdon's Desert Summits. The NG Topo software (screenshot below) disagrees with every other source I've found about which of the two peaks is the true summit. We went to the peak to the west which is what all of the books and other maps call the highest point. NG Topo shows it as the one to the east. In any case, there is only a difference of a few feet, and the western peak has the good view into Wonderland Of Rocks.
