Track of the hike up Hellhole canyon. Not so much a hellhole, actually it's a fun hike!
Indianhead peak - our original target for the day, but snow and wind and time kept us from its summit.
On the hike back, someone had written in the dust on the sign: "alien abductions ahead!"
Clouds in the distance were dumping snow on the peaks.
Cholla in bloom
Funny cloud rings
Looking back down the canyon towards the town of Borrego Springs
There were some nice fall colors in the canyon near the first palm oasis.
The end of fall
A mortero in the granite along the way. After the first set of palms, the trail disappeared into rocks and it turned into an adventure of rock hopping and scrambling.
First palm grove
Losing the trail
Beyond the first grove (oasis)
At Maidenhair falls.
Only dripping even after recent rains.
I finally put my camera away here - too much rock scrambling to carry it safely.
After setting up camp at Borrego Palm Canyon campground we were treated to a great sunset.
David chopping wood for out campfire. Notice the tent right next to the car to keep it out of the wind!
