We walked around behind the rock and found a desert of more red rock.
Dance Hall Rock area
There are a bunch of natural cistern/potholes in the rock that held quite a bit of water and plants.
Looking down on some of the potholes.
A dry pothole with a tree.
Another pothole we found.
Tree and water in pothole.
The biggest pothole we found, with a ~20 ft tall tree growing out of it!
Lovely sticky sandstone.
Running around this stuff is so much fun!
Next we headed off to an area that resembles "The Wave", but with no permits required and very few visitors. I called it "The Wave For Losers"
Dance Hall Rock
At our alternate "Wave" area
You could walk around here for hours discovering neat angles and colors.
Funny looking rock globules.
We camped down the road where we found our Fake Wave area and had a gorgeous view for sunset!
Evening light from camp near Hole-In-The-Rock road.
Home sweet home!
